I was intrigued and immediately knew that I had to find out more. Fortunately, I had the chance to interview Kyree (over the phone) a few weeks ago to get the inside scoop about her and her subscription box.
Throughout the duration of the interview, I couldn’t get over the fact that Kyree has accomplished so much at her young age. At the start of the year, she and her mom launched a subscription box for tween and teen girls called Girl Gang Strong. It all started when Kyree started her Youtube channel. She would post vlogs and other lifestyle videos just for entertainment purposes.
A few kids from her class found these videos and bullied her about them. They would leave mean and threatening comments online and mock her in class. At first Kyree felt discouraged, but kept her positive attitude and decided to benefit from the situation. Originally, she wanted to make her own merchandise but after a suggestion from her mom, she took the subscription box route.
Here’s how it works:
It’s a bi-monthly subscription box filled with products hand picked especially for the box. Each set of boxes has a different theme. Last box was self care and contained things such as face masks and other related items.
Girl Gang Strong is more than just a subscription box, it’s a safe space for girls to support and uplift each other. The girls who subscribe are regularly emailed and connected with. Also, there is an exclusive app in the works which is planned to launch in the near future. Her goal for the end of the year is to get 200 girls to join the Girl Gang Strong communtiy
I wanted to get to know the brilliant mind behind Girl Gang Strong so I asked Kyree a few questions about herself.

“My personality. I have a very fun personality. I like playing a lot of games and I’m funny.”
“Finding products. There are a lot of different people to shop for. Also the long [work] hours are tiring.” Part of her job is packing and shipping boxes and creating graphic designs.
“I really like listening to The Walls Group. They’re a really good group of siblings that make gospel music. For hip-hop, Beyoncé is a very good artist. I love her music a lot.”
During quarantine, Kyree has been successful in keeping herself busy. She enjoys making TikToks, especially joining the latest dance trends. She’s also been binging T.V. (just like most of us). Her favourite shows and movies include: The Flash, That’s So Raven, The notebook, Maleficent 2 and Aladdin (2019).
Kyree is definitely one of the most inspiring people I’ve conversed with. I love her energetic personality. In such a short period of time Kyree has proven to be exceptional and I can’t wait to see what she does next.
