Black Talents Officially a Registered Trademark

October 1, 2023

We’re proud to announce that BLACK TALENTS is now an officially registered trademark as of September 5, 2023— a remarkable milestone that solidifies our identity and deepens our commitment to empowering Black youth across Canada and beyond.

Our Journey

Founded in December 2018, Black Talents began with a simple yet powerful vision: to equip and inspire Black youth— including African, Caribbean, and North American communities — to achieve career and personal success.

Since our inception, we’ve engaged and impacted over 1,000 youth through mentorship programs, career workshops, resume and interview preparation, leadership events, and community engagement initiatives. Our programs have continued to evolve, providing thetools and confidence young people need to thrive in school, work, and life.

From our first mentorship sessions in Ontario to hosting leadership panels, networking events, and youth skill-building workshops, every milestone has been fueled by a shared mission — to nurture excellence and opportunity within the Black community.

What This Milestone Means

Becoming a registered trademark is more than a legal step — it’s a statement of growth, integrity, and purpose. It ensures that the Black Talents name and mission remain protected as we continue to expand programs, strengthen partnerships, and amplify our impact.

Looking Ahead

Our founder, Franklina Tawiah, together with our dedicated team, remains steadfast in advancing opportunities for Black youth to explore careers, develop leadership, and reach their fullest potential. With a strong foundation and a growing community of mentors, partners, and supporters, Black Talents continues to build a future where Black youth are inspired, equipped, and celebrated.

Thank you for being part of this journey — and for believing in the power of Black talent.
